Stereotypically, cats have been associated with women but new data suggests that this isn’t always the case. According to a Nielsen study that looked at the 25 largest metro areas in the US, cat dads are more common than you think in certain parts of the country.
The study, which looked at single men, noted that 31.1% of them had a cat in Portland, Oregon while 23.5% of single men had a cat in Seattle, Washington. Some argue that the prevalence of cat dads in the Pacific Northwest is due to the area being more progressive or eschewing toxic masculinity. One cat dad said that his cat even helped him get dates. Regardless, this is always great to see. Riverside, California, Baltimore, Maryland and Detroit, Michigan rounded out the top 5 metro areas for cat dads.
