Grains and Climate Change

Did you know that climate change is affecting the availability of feed grains for pet food?

Did you know that climate change is affecting the availability of feed grains for pet food?  Here are some reasons why:

  • Rising temperatures: Heat stress can reduce crop yields and compromise grain quality.
  • Drought: Droughts can also reduce crop yields and make it more difficult to grow feed grains.
  • Extreme weather events: Extreme weather events, such as floods and storms, can damage crops and disrupt agricultural production.
  • Pests and diseases: Climate change is also creating conditions that are more favorable for pests and diseases, which can damage crops and reduce yields.

The combined impact of these factors is making it more difficult and expensive to produce feed grains. This is leading to higher prices for pet food, and could eventually lead to shortages.  At PURELUXE Pet Food, we began from the start with 100% grain-free diets as we feel that fresh meat, fish and sources other than grains are the highest quality protein sources.  These grain-free proteins can even help with allergies.  See all of our formulas at pureluxepetfood.com.
