Help!  My dog has diarrhea.

July 21, 2022 | Logan Simmons
Diarrhea is one of those messy things that we don’t like to talk about much.Nevertheless, it can befall both us as well as our fur babies.  Luckily, there are some tips that can help alleviate it and identity why it occurred in the first place.

One of the most common reasons for diarrhea in dogs is from them eating something they shouldn’t.  Other reasons can be food allergies, parasites or infections.  Obviously, some of these issues need to be dealt with at a vet visit.  However, you can try making your dog fast for 12-24 hours if they’re healthy.  If they’re not, or if they’re a puppy or a senior dog, some home remedies might be helpful and include:

1.) Pureed pumpkin or pumpkin powder.

2.) Plain white rice

3.) Boiled chicken.

4.) Yogurt with probiotics.

5.) Potatoes that have been peeled, boiled, mashed and cooled.

If you’ve been paying attention to pet food labels, and especially PURELUXE Pet Food, you’ll note that many of the remedies above are already included as ingredients in all of our formulas.  For example, our formulas include a healthy amount of pre and probiotics, along with pumpkin seeds, that help keep a healthy gut.  Additionally, our formulas avoid certain meat meals that are known to cause allergic reactions.  Diarrhea is certainly no fun, and it’s important to mitigate it daily with the right diet while still keeping a lookout for those emergency situations.  See all of our formulas at pureluxepetfood.com.
