Kids these days – they just don’t stop growing.  In fact, if you’re a dog parent, it can be hard to know when your pup will stop growing and when you should transition away from puppy food.  On average, dogs stop growing between 6 to 18 months.  However, some extra large breeds can continue to grow for up to 24 months.  Additionally, males are normally larger than females.

One go to measure as to when your dog will stop growing is to know how much a fully grown dog of your breed weighs.  Luckily, there are a number of online calculators that take into account breed, current weight and age that can demystify this to some extent.  Your vet can also be a good source of knowledge along with dog breed standards.  However, mixed breed dogs can be more difficult to figure out.
